The goal of the "Healthy Communities, Healthy People" program is to improve community health in Leon County through nutrition, physical activity, and smoking cessation policy, systems and environmental change strategies. Research indicates that establishing health-related policy and environmental changes impacts many individuals by providing a foundation for making or maintaining healthy life choices. Program staff promote and develop community partnerships to create new norms and opportunities in schools, worksites, and the general community so that healthy eating, active living, and smoke-free lifestyles are the easy and natural choices.
