DOH Leon Moves COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic to FSU's Tucker Center

DOH Leon COVID-19 Vaccination Site Moves to FSU’s Tucker Center Next Month

Tallahassee, FL -- The Florida Department of Health in Leon County (DOH Leon) is relocating its COVID-19 vaccination site to an indoor location at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center at Florida State University, effective Monday, May 3.

DOH Leon selected a fully climate-controlled location due to increasing seasonal temperatures, humidity and thunderstorms. Existing appointments will be honored at the new location during the Leon County designated clinic dates.

“We know that through May and the summer months, the weather will be getting too warm for our staff, volunteers, and partners to be safely outside while our patients are in their cars,” says DOH Health Officer Claudia Blackburn.

The FSU site is centrally located in Tallahassee at 505 W. Pensacola Street. It offers ample parking and is easily accessible. The University will continue to host vaccination clinics separately at the site during designated days to serve the campus population.

Blackburn says, “We feel really fortunate to have access to this space and look forward to this expanded partnership with FSU. We applaud the University for stepping up and playing such critical roles in addressing this public health emergency.”

The DOH Leon drive-thru vaccination site at 2965 Municipal Way has been open since late December and has successfully administered more than 26,000 doses of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.

The new walk-up site will vaccinate eligible individuals registered for appointments through the State of Florida website https://myvaccine.fl.gov/#/, or who have called 866-200-3856.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued an order, effective April 5, expanding vaccine eligibility to all Florida residents who meet the recommendations prescribed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Pfizer vaccine is authorized for individuals 16 years of age and older. The Moderna vaccine is authorized for persons 18 years of age and older. The state of Florida is pausing all Johnson & Johnson vaccines per the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and FDA as they review data involving six reported U.S. cases of a rare type of blood clot in individuals after receiving Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

Those arriving for vaccination appointments are reminded to wear masks, bring a valid government-issued photo ID, and to familiarize themselves with the COVID-19 vaccine screening and consent form before their arrival. Use this link to view the document.

For any additional general questions about the vaccine at this time, the State COVID-19 Call Center can be reached by calling 1-866-779-6121 or emailing COVID-19@flhealth.gov and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week or visit https://floridahealthcovid19.gov/.
