DOH Leon Marks National Public Health Week
"Where we live impacts our communities’ health and DOH Leon is committed to doing the work to break down physical, mental, financial, cultural, and language barriers to make sure our public health resources are available to all," said Sandon S. Speedling, MHS, CPM, CPH, DOH Leon Interim Health Officer.
The Department responds to the health needs of all Leon County citizens through the prevention and treatment of disease and injury, emergency preparedness and response activities, and by increasing access to care, clean air, safe drinking water, and food sources. And most importantly, saving lives.
Over the past two years, everyone has seen just how essential public health is to nearly every aspect of our lives. DOH Leon celebrates NPHW by saluting all of our dedicated public health partners who worked tirelessly to keep our communities strong and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve with so many public health professionals who have shouldered so much and continue to do what is necessary to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida,” said Speedling.
The Department, nationally accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board, works to protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts.
