Leon County Health Department Staffs New Drive-Through Testing Center 

Tallahassee’s first drive-in facility is now serving those at risk or with COVID-19 symptoms.

A section of the parking lot of Northwood Center on North Monroe Street has been converted into a drive through COVID-19 testing site.

The cars roll up to designated tents where medical personnel are waiting. Then the drivers are asked to roll down their window, tip their head back and submit to a series of nasal and throat swabs.

The sample collection site will be open Monday through Friday from 11am until 6 pm.

Leon County health department staff will begin assisting patients at the drive through facility next week.

Officials have emphasized the drive-through is not a community-wide screening and testing location and that samples will only be collected from patients who have already been evaluated and have a physician order for COVID-19 testing.

Patients who are experiencing flu-like symptoms should call their primary care provider to     determine if they should be screened for the virus.

Bond Community Health Center, Capital Health Plan, Capital Regional Medical Center, Center for Healthy Aging, FSU College of Medicine, LabCorp, Leon County Health Department, Neighborhood Medical Center, North Florida Medical Centers, Patients First, Quest Diagnostics, Tallahassee Primary Care Associates, and the City of Tallahassee.
