FAMU Bragg Memorial Stadium Adds Mobile Units, Earlier Operating Hours

The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Bragg Memorial Stadium COVID-19 Testing Site looks different, but its core operations remain unchanged.

Beginning this week, the Florida Division of Emergency Management has set up five mini-mobile units located on the northwest corner of the stadium parking lot near Perry Street. Testing is no longer being conducted in the stadium, since the operation has shifted to the mobile units.

“We are still doing well. It’s just an adjustment for everybody,” said Tanya Tatum, director of Student Health Services, who supervises the site. “The  process is still pretty much the same except they come to a window to get a ticket, we still send them texts, and they walk up to get tested.”

The site is open an hour earlier to better meet the scheduling needs of residents. The new hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The walkup site is open from Monday through Saturday unless closed due to inclement weather. Testing is free and open to anyone who wants to be tested regardless of symptoms. No physician referral is required.

The site has a capacity of 750 COVID-19 diagnostic tests and 200 antibody tests per day.

No appointments are required, and there are no age restrictions. Tests will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The site is being operated with support from the Florida Department of Health in Leon County, the Florida Department of Health, the State Division of Emergency Management, and other partners.

“The ability to keep the entire community safe from COVID-19 is our highest priority,” said Claudia Blackburn, health officer, FDOH-Leon. “The outstanding partnerships we have with FAMU, Florida Emergency Management, and others allow us to quickly adapt to the changing landscape in order to continue making it easier for residents we serve to have access to tests.”
