Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (BCCEDP)

Clinic Appointments

We invite you to participate in the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. This is a screening program for women ages 50-64 who have low income and are underinsured or uninsured. An applicant must be a Florida resident living in Jefferson, Leon, Madison, Taylor or Wakulla counties. This program offers free or low-cost mammograms, Pap tests and clinical breast exams. 

Please call (850) 404-6404 to see if you qualify to be scheduled for a mammogram through the program.

  • Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that begins in the breast.
  • Breast cancer is predominantly a disease among woman and is the 2nd most common type of cancer among women in the U.S.
  • Among Hispanic women, it is the most common cause of cancer deaths.
  • Although more white women get breast cancer, more African-American women die from breast cancer.
  • Mammography is the single most effective method of early detection, since it can identify cancer several years before physical symptoms develop.
  • Early detection is possible through mammograms beginning at the age of 50, or earlier if family history puts one at increased risk, or as decided by the physician in consultation with the patient.
